Introduction: Maria Vinella

"I wanted to use "the rose" as a metaphorical subject, to tell situations that alternate in his real and dreamlike life through 13 canvases that have as their guiding thread the search for serenity through stages of tension, falls and moments of recovery."

Behind all the collages there is above all the lack, solitude and the search for balance.

The rose is a contradictory flower, fragile, naive but pungent and elusive at the same time.

These two aspects generate a tense and nervous drive, and lead to constant dissatisfaction.

The question from which everything arises is: "Can everyone manage to be the cure for their own evils?".

The sleeping rose is a metaphor for self-healing, it represents whoever has found the strength to get up. The torpor in which "the rose" falls is a temporary stage of inertia, in which anyone who has run aground, who is in difficulty and is suffering. This is not a condition to be forgotten but rather to be celebrated. Because it is from this moment on that an individual's strength can be measured.
